PORCELAIN CROWNS (CAPS)

A crown (or cap) is a covering that encases the entire tooth surface restoring it to its original shape and size.  A crown protects and strengthens tooth structure that cannot be restored with fillings or other types of restorations.

Although there are several types of crowns, porcelain (tooth colored crown) are the most popular, because they resemble your natural teeth.  They are highly durable and will last many years, but like most dental restorations, they will eventually need to be replaced.  Porcelain crowns are made to match the shape, size, and color or your teeth giving you a natural, long-lasting beautiful smile.

Reasons for crowns:
  • Broken or Fractured Teeth
  • Cosmetic Enhancement
  • Decayed Teeth
  • Fractured Fillings
  • Large Fillings
  • Tooth has a Root Canal
What does getting a crown involve?
At Dr. Burns’ office, getting a crown is simple thanks  to the E4D CAD/CAM system.  While the tooth is numb, Dr. Burns shapes the tooth to properly fit the crown.  Once the shaping is complete, the tooth is digitally scanned using the PlanScan.  This replaces the need for a messy impression.  Once the scanning is complete, the crown is designed and fabricated right in the office.  With the E4D PlanScan system, crowns can be completely done the SAME DAY.  THAT’S RIGHT, THE SAME DAY!!!.  No more messy impression, no more temporary crown, no more waiting 2-3 weeks for a crown.  All this is possible with the technologically advanced E4D system that Dr. Burns has implemented into his office.  Below is a short video tutorial of the system.
